What Is RGB MiniLED? The New Standard in TV Technology Explained (2025 Guide)

Over the past few years, display technology has evolved very quickly. OLED, QLED and MiniLED have been the most talked-about options, but now a new innovation is rising — RGB MiniLED.

This new type of backlight creates images that are brighter, more colourful, and more accurate than previous technologies, raising the standard for high-end TVs.

So, what is RGB MiniLED, and why is it seen as such an important upgrade?

What is RGB MiniLED?

RGB MiniLED is an advanced form of MiniLED technology that uses individual Red, Green, and Blue LEDs — instead of traditional white LED backlights — to create colour.

Unlike conventional TVs that rely on white LEDs + colour filters, RGB MiniLED blends RGB light directly inside each local dimming zone. This allows the TV to reproduce colour much more precisely and efficiently.

Key difference:

✔ Uses pure RGB light as its backlight

✘ Not white light filtered through layers

This results in a purer spectrum of colour, higher efficiency, and naturally lower harmful blue light.

1) Each dimming zone reproduces colour individually

2) Less colour filtering = more accurate + more efficient

3) No quantum dot needed

The Future of TV is RGB MiniLED

RGB MiniLED is one of the biggest upgrades in today’s TV technology. It brings together the strong brightness of MiniLED, the clean colour of RGB light, and the smart control of AI.

With higher brightness, more natural colours, reduced blue light, and great durability, it is set to become the new standard for high-quality home entertainment.

As the origin of RGB MiniLED, Hisense is leading the industry into this new era.

Hisense is going to launch the smaller and cheaper (compared to UX116) RGB MiniLED TV models for home cinema in 2026. Stay tuned!
